Work by Bothell artist at Asian Art Museum
Linda Lunt of Bothell has a piece of her textile art work, "Long Life With Happiness," in the upcoming show, Gifts to Gold Mountain: Poetry in Translation at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
The show was inspired by a gift to the Conservatory at Volunteer Park of 50 Show Chrysanthemums from China. Translations of the Chinese names for these flowers yielded beautiful, poetic phrases like "cherry blossoms under the silver moonlight" and "eighteen enchanted phoenixes."
Members of the Contemporary Quiltart Association have chosen names which create visual interpretations of the titles. The quilts will be exhibited at the Seattle Asian Art Musuem in October 2002 while the mums are in bloom and on display in the Conservatory.
