Sixty-seven students from Tolt Middle School in Carnation were honored on Friday, Nov. 1, with lunch off-campus at the American Legion Hall in Carnation. The meal was catered by the Ixtapa restaurant.
The 67 met all four standards of the WASL (Washington Assessment of Student Learning) which were listening, reading, writing and math.
The 67 students were among 214 taking the test from Tolt Middle School this year.
According to Brad Abels, Tolt vice principal, 67 of the 214 students taking the test met all four standards compared to 51 students out of 215 the previous year.
Tolt Principal Janet Gavigan, Vice Principal Abels, Riverview School District Superintendent Conrad Robertson, Curriculum Director Anthony Smith and ASB Advisor Teresa O'Shea were all on hand to celebrate the accomplishment with the 8th graders, who all took the WASL test when they were 7th graders.
