Thelma Hummer, fondly known as T.J., passed away Nov. 16 at Regency Care Center in Monroe. She was 86. Born in Tacoma on Feb.16, 1916, Thelma attended Broadway and Garfield high schools in Seattle and married Frank W. Hummer Feb. 18, 1938. They were married for 52 years until Frank's death in 1990 and were residents of Woodinville for over 40 years. Her most recent residence was Merrill Gardens in Monroe.
Thelma is survived by two sons Steven Frank Hummer and wife Kathleen, of Woodinville, and Dick Terrance Hummer of Marysville, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Thelma was a very positive person with a cheerful, youthful personality. Young people especially loved Thelma and delighted in spending time with her, listening to her personal reminiscences.
A lover of nature and wildlife, she especially liked to watch the deer in her back yard in Woodinville. She spent many hours fishing, skating, camping, hiking, and swimming with her family.
In her early years she was active in PTA, the Ring Hill Community Club, and served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack #421 in Woodinville.
A private memorial service was held. Remembrances may be donated to the American Cancer Society.
