The new 18-mil Tolt 2 Pipeline increases the safety and reliability of the area's water system.
Water pours from a pipe off the new Tolt 2 Pipeline in Bothell last week after Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels opened a drainage valve. As the huge valve on the 80-inch pipeline was opened, water roared through the 60-foot-deep vault and out from the air gap at a rate of more than 100 gallons per minute.
Opening the valve tested the water quality and valve operation of the pipeline. The event also celebrated the completion of the Tolt 2 Pipeline.
The Tolt 2 Pipeline is a key component of the system that supplies water to nearly half a million people in northeast King County, delivering approximately 50 million gallons per day.
