Garden d'Lights illuminates Bellevue

Over 400,000 bulbs will "bloom" this winter during the 9th annual Garden d'Lights, presented by KVI Talk Radio 570, a featured attraction of the Wells Fargo Magic Season. The Bellevue Botanical Garden will come to life December 1 through Dec. 31 with a spectacular holiday display of brilliance that is expected to draw over 60,000 visitors from around the region. The lighting display is open daily from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Over 250 Garden Society members and community contributors will dress the garden with botanically inspired, glowing arrangements this season. New to this year's flowerbed, the Bellevue Botanical Society announces the introduction of an "Echinacea" or "Purple Cone Flower" sculpture to Garden d'Lights, the 2002 Herb of the Year. A new groundcover of yellow flowers, Helianthemum, will also be added to the list of the garden's latest botanical works of art.
A brilliant explosion of color, traditional clusters of perennials and annuals blanket the garden. Red roses, deep-blue delphinium, yellow sunflowers and wisteria draped in purple and white blossoms compliment the picturesque outdoor scenes of birds, butterflies and pond animals.
Through December 19, the Visitor Center will host nightly performances by local artists, creating a festive and entertaining destination for the entire family. Check www.bellevuebotanical.org for an updated schedule of times and performers.
The Bellevue Botanical Garden is located at 12001 Main Street in downtown Bellevue. For more information on Garden d'Lights or the Preview Party, visit bellevuebotanical.org or call (425) 451-3755.
Garden d'Lights is open daily, December 1 through December 31, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Nightly entertainment begins at 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 5 pm on Sunday. The Garden Gift Shop is open daily, 3 pm to 8:30 pm. Admission and entertainment are free. A donation to the Bellevue Botanical Garden Society is encouraged to support the light display and the Botanical Society's many educational programs throughout the year. On November 30, the Bellevue Botanical Garden Society will also host a Preview Party to support Garden d'Lights and the Society's programs, featuring Ciscoe Morris, of "Gardening with Ciscoe," as the Master of Ceremonies. Admission is $35 and pre-registration is required.
