A
passion for defying gravity
by Deborah Stone

They
call themselves the “Rad Scooters” and
they can be found most days hanging out at the
Woodinville Skate Park, practicing their tailwhips,
barspins and flips on the various pipes, slants,
ledges and grinding walls. They are a team of
local teens from diverse backgrounds who bonded
together because of their shared passion for
doing gravity-defying stunts on scooters.
“We ride scooters, not skateboards,” clarifies15-year-old
David Nickles, “but just like skateboarders,
we have developed different moves and tricks
that we can do at skateboard parks. And there
are competitions that we can enter to show off
our tricks and be judged.”
