Sno-Valley Tilth, a chapter of Washington Tilth, invites anyone who values local agriculture and the joys of eating local farm products to join the group at their monthly potluck and meeting, Monday, Jan. 8 at the Carnation Tree Farm barn in Carnation. Potluck begins at 6 p.m., meeting at 7.

Volkswalk through the tulips

“I knew at that moment I was hooked on Volkswalking as I walked through the tulips at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Oregon,” recalled Becky Forsythe, Northwest Regional Director of the American Volkssport Association.

While scanning patterned tulip fields in stunning colors, Becky Forsythe experienced a life-changing encounter. “I like this,” she thought. “I’m out here in a tulip field with other people and this is fun. Ordinarily I would have never come to this tulip field.”

She explains how the joy of the moment gave her a vivid realization. “I knew at that moment I was hooked on Volkswalking as I walked through the colorful tulips at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Oregon.”
