Woodinville gymnastics wins dual meet, KingCo. Championships Saturday

The Lady Falcons Gymnastics team celebrated senior night at the Jan. 25 dual-meet against North Creek, Newport and Skyline. The meet was the Falcons last home meet of the year.

It was a night to remember between the exhilarating performances of the athletes along with the touching sentiments directed to seniors Katie Barker, Gigi Calozza, Ava Clark and Ali Ashford.

Team WHS dominated the meet and earned top spots in all four events, as well as the all-around.

Woodinville won the dual meet with a combined score of 175.95. North Creek finished second with 160.50 team points, followed by Newport with 138.15 and Skyline with 108.35.

Barker took first place in the individual all-around. She finished first in the vault, bars and beam and second in her floor routine.

Junior Emily Brouwers took home second, followed by sophomore Ainsley Mann. Gigi Calozza and Sophie Brittingham finished fifth and seventh.

Prior to the Jan. 25 meet, Woodinville traveled to Sammamish High School to face the Inglemoor Vikings.

Brouwers finished first in the all-around, with a top finish in the bars, beam and floor routine. She finished third in the vault.

Barker finished second in the all-around, followed by Mann in third, Brittingham in fourth and Calozza in sixth.

Woodinville defeated Inglemoor 174.9 to 153.65 in head-to-head scoring.

On Jan. 4, Woodinville traveled to Bothell High School for a dual meet against host Bothell and Skyline.

Barker, Brouwers, Mann, Brittingham and junior Sarah Ruana finished 1,2,3,4 and 5 in the all-around.

Barker took top honors in the vault and floor. Brouwers took first in the bars, while Mann took first in the beam.

Woodinville won the meet with a team score of 172.85. Bothell finished second with 132.65 team points, followed by Skyline with 97.55.

Woodinville competed at a dual meet at North Creek High School on Feb. 2 against host North Creek, Skyline, Newport and Redmond. Meet results were not available at time of press.

The team travels to Sammamish High School on Feb. 11 to compete in the KingCo. District Championships.
