The Market Minstrels performed a “watercraft concert” on the deck of a home at Cottage Lake on Labor Day to raise money for Friends of Cottage Lake. A group of local musicians known as the Market Minstrels performed for an audience that was boating and floating on Cottage Lake on Labor Day. The venue was a fundraising event that took in close to $2,000 for Friends of Cottage Lake.

FOCL is a nonprofit community-based group that was formed in 1992. Its mission is to improve and defend the health and continued enjoyment of Cottage Lake. The organization is also working with the community to deal with invasive weeds and researching solutions for excess phosphorus that causes algae blooms throughout the summer months.

“For a spontaneous idea, we feel very pleased with the results and show of community support,” Beth Shepard said. “We hope to hold another event next spring, either on land or water, COVID dependent.”
