CREDIT CARD FRAUD – COMFORT INN, Bothell: On Sept. 12, around 10:40 a.m. and ongoing, Bothell Police received numerous calls concerning fraud and ID theft. Currently, all the victims are future hotel guests who have booked reservations/rooms at the Comfort Inn. It is suspected that the hotel’s chain data system may have been hacked. The unknown suspect(s) will deploy a phishing scam by calling victims and informing them about some type of error with the payment method. The suspect(s) would ask the victims to verify their full card number, expiration and 3-digit security numbers. Once these cards are obtained, the suspect(s) will withdraw money from their credit card and/or debit card. When officers contacted the on-duty hotel manager, he advised the hotel has also received numerous calls concerning this scam.
