Paralyzed WHS alum inspires benefit concert

In a tragic diving accident in February, Woodinville athlete and active community member Tyler Schrenk suffered life-threatening injuries that ultimately led to paralysis from his neck down.

He already has ambitions to tour the region and help others adjust to similar injuries.

This positive response to dire circumstances has inspired Schrenk’s friends to coordinate a concert at Rooney’s (17626 140th Ave. NE in Woodinville)on Saturday, August 18, to benefit his cause.

The show begins at 8 p.m. and the bands performing include The Line-up of Ghost Town Riot, Tip to Base and Ticktockman.

The event promises to be a big night with over 100 Woodinville residents pledging to attend on the event’s Facebook page.    Local businesses have also rallied for the cause with several business owners donating prizes for the night’s charity raffle, including HairMasters, Doug’s Boats, Mi Tierra, Play It Again Sports, Woodinville Bicycle, BigFish Grill, Papa Murphy’s and Rooney’s.  Individual contributors have donated additional prizes. All proceeds from the raffle and ticket sales will be donated to Schrenk’s foundation.
