MALTBY — Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District No. 7, South County Fire, and Bothell Fire were dispatched to the scene of a burning commercial building on the 8300 block of Maltby Road on Thursday morning, Sept. 24, shortly after 11 a.m.
Crews arrived to find heavy black smoke and flames shooting up from the roof of Synthetic Turf Northwest, which is one of three businesses housed in the building.
Firefighters arrived to find a bin of cedar chips that caught fire, which spread to the building.
"The fire was burning the rubber that coated the roof,” Fire District 7 Spokesperson Heather Chadwick said. “Crews were able to quickly access the roof with a hose line, while additional crews were stretching hose lines to the hopper. Their aggressive fire attack helped them extinguish the blaze and kept the fire from spreading to the interior of the building, saving multiple businesses equipment and property.”
Chadwick said Snohomish County Fire District 22 (Getchell Fire) also assisted in fire operations and situational awareness with drone images.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters reported. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
