Response teams from Woodinville Fire & Rescue, Woodinville Police Department, and the King County Sheriff's Office were alerted to a car-cyclist accident in the intersection of Northeast 171st Street and 143rd Place Northeast at 9:42 Monday morning. The incident claimed the life of the person on the bicycle.
“Crews arrived find the cyclist unconscious and not breathing,” said Catherine Breault, public information officer with Woodinville Fire & Rescue. “CPR was administered, but responders were unable to resuscitate the victim.”
Sgt. B.J. Meyers with the WPD said the cyclist was pronounced dead on the scene.
“Our major accident investigators from the Sheriff’s Office are here now and we expect the road to be closed for a few more hours,” Meyers said Monday afternoon. “It hasn’t been determined at this point who was at fault, but we do know it was a teenager driving the vehicle and a male who was on the bike. There were no witnesses to the accident that we are aware of.”
The names and ages of the driver and man on the bicycle have not been released as the investigation is ongoing.
