A Woodinville business owner lost his home in a large house fire on Aug. 10.
A GoFundMe for John Dick, owner of Golden Steer Choice Meats, has been created.
Multiple neighbors called Woodinville Fire & Rescue around 11:20 a.m. on Aug. 10 to report smoke and flames at the home on the 1800 block of Woodinville Duvall Pl., according to WF&R spokesperson Catherine Breault.
When crews from Woodinville, Redmond and Bothell arrived, the fire had spread to the surrounding yard as well. No one was home at the time, Breault said, and a neighbor was able to save the dog that had been in the yard.
It took a crew of about 26 firefighters around 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze, Breault said, and the structure was completely destroyed. The Fire Investigation Unit of the King County Sheriff’s Office said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
The dry and hot conditions that had persisted in the region for much of the summer increased the danger of the fire continuing to spread, Breault said.
“We can’t say that the heat caused the fire, but it certainly didn’t help the situation,” she said. “It adds to the fuels that are available to the fire.”
The same house caught fire in April of this year, but the earlier blaze had been less serious, and firefighters were able to save the home.
