KIRKLAND — Kirkland Police have released descriptions of two male suspects involved in the shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old at Houghton Beach Park on Wednesday evening, Sept. 16.
Suspect No.1 is a 5'10" thin build white male with curly hair, age 15 to 20 years old. He was wearing a gray hoodie and either gray sweatpants or light-colored jeans and white athletic shoes at the time of the shooting.
Suspect No. 2 is a 5'8" to 5'10" thin build male (race unknown) with light skin and curly dark hair, age 15 to 20 years old. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
"Audio evidence recovered of the shooting reveals multiple shots being fired," said Tiffany Trombley, public information officer with the Kirkland Police Department. "The suspects were seen running toward and getting into a dark blue, four-door, BMW 535 XI."
Trombley said investigators have determined Houghton Beach Park was the site of a firearms transaction between the victim and the suspects.
"It was chosen since Kirkland is geographically located between Marysville, where the victim was traveling from and Renton where the suspects were traveling from," Trombley said. "Investigators have contacted two of the three persons of interest in this case. There is more information leading to the possibility of a fourth person of interest."
The incident took place shortly after 8:15 p.m. on the night of Sept. 16.
Kirkland Police arrived on the scene and located the teenage male victim. EMTs transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
According to a post on the KPD website, witnesses reported the sound of gunshots and saw two males running from the park. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting call Detective Haas at 425-587-3505.
