BOTHELL — The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in Bothell Wednesday evening.

Lynnwood Public Affairs Officer Julie Moore said BPD responded to a 911 call around 7:30 p.m., reporting a man was slashing tires with a knife in the vicinity of 228th Avenue Southeast and 20th Avenue Southeast.

“The first responding Bothell officer made contact with the male subject, at which point the subject advanced towards the officer with a knife and the officer fired multiple shots at him,” Moore said. “The officer then radioed that shots had been fired and requested aid. Other responding officers immediately began performing life-saving measures on the adult male subject.”

The subject was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from the gunshot wounds. Moore said the knife was recovered at the scene.

The Bothell officer involved is on administrative leave. Updates will be posted as they become available.
