Daniel Riegel

Sept. 12, 1954 – Nov. 10, 2021

Beloved father and friend, Daniel J. Riegel, MD, passed away after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer on November 10, 2021 at the age of 67 in Everett, WA. 

Dan was born in St. Coix Falls, WI on September 12, 1954 to Dr. Fred B. Riegel and Joanna D. Johnson. He graduated from WWU with a BA in Psychology in 1978. He studied pre-medicine at the University of Minnesota while working full time as a counselor and social services liaison for mentally disabled young adults. After graduating with his Doctorate in medicine in 1986 from the University of Minnesota Medical School, Dan completed his Residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, MN. In 1989, Dan moved to Woodinville, WA and began practicing medicine at Woodinville Family Practice. Collectively, Dan practiced medicine 28 years with WFP, Partner MD and Mill Creek Family Practice.

Dan married Janice J. Haruda in 1978 and had two daughters, Julie A. and Molly J. Riegel. In 1995, Dan remarried Cynthia E. Topjon and had two more children: Taryn E. and Jake F.D. Riegel.

Dan loved snowboarding, baking apple pie, dad jokes and watching his children play sports or make music. Dan was passionate about gardening and playing guitar.

Dan is survived by his ex-wife, Cynthia, daughter Julie and her spouse Kristien Ruggiero-Upton, daughters Molly and Taryn and son Jake. Dan was preceded in death by his first wife, parents and siblings, Lawrence A. and Gail J. Riegel.
