Editor,

I was very sad and appalled by what happened at the Woodinville City Council and Planning Commission meetings last week (June 16 and 17 respectively). The council attacked a volunteer citizen on the planning commission, Nicolas Duchastel de Montrouge, by adding an item to the agenda at the last minute to dismiss him, which did not provide him an opportunity to defend himself, or allow anyone to comment on their actions. It was an orchestrated and planned ambush.

The behavior of the city council was unprofessional and they should be ashamed. I have known Nicolas for several years and have worked with him on task forces for the Northshore School District. The behavior they describe is not the Nicolas I know. He has always conducted himself professionally and with nothing but kindness.

Nicolas has served on many volunteer committees, which show me how deeply he cares for this community and wants to make it a better place. The accusations made by council are outrageous and they have no proof to back these stories. They have no proof of the behavior they accuse Nicolas of, yet the councils’ appalling behavior is on video and being circulated widely in the community. The council owes Nicolas a public apology, and if he still wishes to serve on the planning committee, he should be reinstated. These elected officials need to be held accountable for their behavior. This is not okay.
