Betty passed away on October 2, 2019, at the age of 89. She was born on September 5, 1930, in Wenatchee, Wash., to George and Lucille Hess.

She was raised in Peshastin and Leavenworth, Wash., into her teen years but moved to Bremerton where she graduated with honors from Bremerton High School.

As she raised her family she was active with Scouting, PTA, and her church where she sang in the choir.

Betty enjoyed camping, hiking, and fishing with her family and friends. In later years she traveled with her husband in a motor home to a good many of the states and provinces and especially liked camping in the desert near Yuma, Ariz.
