John Nebinger

John Nebinger passed away on March 18th, 2019 at the age of 67. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018. He is survived by his son, Paul Nebinger (Wife Corey), granddaughter, Maisie Nebinger, mother, Edna Nebinger and brother, Scott Nebinger.

John was the oldest son of Edna and Richard (deceased) and grew up in Walnut Creek, CA, although the Nebinger Family is originally from Pennsylvania. While in high school, John dreamed of playing for the NBA and was passionate about basketball. He graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Marketing.

John did some world traveling when he was young and lived in Japan for a short time where he learned conversational Japanese and cooking. Later on, he became an avid runner and completed 3 marathons. He liked sushi, fun coffee shops, family BBQ’s at home and an occasional cigar. John baked amazing homemade pies that were the highlight of Thanksgiving every year.

When his 2 sons were growing up, he often talked about how much he would have enjoyed teaching and coaching athletics, but he was firmly established in his career in industrial sales. While the children were growing up, the family hosted several Japanese exchange students who enjoyed talking to John in their own language. John had many accomplishments, but he was most proud of his boys, Paul and Bradley. He spent all of his free time with his sons, being the happiest in their company.

Tragically, Paul’s brother Brad passed away at the age of 24, due to a medication reaction that caused him to stop breathing. This sent the entire family into a long period of overwhelming sadness. But what none of us could have foreseen, is that the Lord would arrange a special joy for John in meeting his first grandchild shortly before his death.

John spent his last days surrounded by family and friends in the hospital and hospice where he was prayed for and loved by all. He was very appreciative of the kindness expressed by people throughout his illness. His patience and gentleness will always be remembered. He left his home on earth for a greater adventure in Heaven with our Savior.
