June 26, 1931

Jan. 1, 2020

Kathleen M. Guide went to her Savior peacefully in the presence of her husband and daughters on Jan. 1, 2020 at the Caring Cabin Adult Family Home in Bothell, Wash., at the age of 88.

Kathy was born on June 26, 1931, in Omaha, Neb. to Charles and Kathleen Johnson and joined an older brother, Ralph. She is survived by her husband, Bob, and her three daughters, Debi (Jim) Bradley, Julie Guide and Barb (David) Hunter. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica (Travis) Stewart, Erin (Nick) James, Christine (Tyler) Opp, Kayiee (AJ) Johnson, Danny Menkens, Matt Hunter and Nick Hunter. She also leaves five great grandsons, four nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Ellie Carson.

Kathy grew up in Omaha and graduated from the University of Omaha (now the University of Nebraska at Omaha), where she met her husband, Bob. They were married on April 10, 1954, and moved to Longview, Wash., in 1960, where they lived for 53 years.

Kathy was a dedicated homemaker and community volunteer, serving the Longview Community Church, Southwest Washington Symphony Auxiliary and St John Cancer Center. She loved music and sang in the church choir for over 45 years.

In 2013, Kathy’s health issues convinced her and Bob to move to Woodinville, Wash., in order to be closer to her family. They settled at Brittany Park Retirement Home, where they made many friends and enjoyed themselves. For the past two years, she has lived at Caring Cabin Adult Family Home, where she received outstanding care.

Kathy’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandkids. She formed a tight bond with all of them. She trusted and worshipped the Lord to the very end.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Fairwinds Brittany Park Retirement Home in Woodinville, Wash., at 2 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2020. All of Kathy’s friends are invited. Remembrances may be made to Woodinville Community Church or Woodinville Rotary Charitable Foundation.
