Shirley H. Van Noy passed away peacefully on February 25, 2019 at the age of 101.
Shirley was born in Hollywood, Washington on February 18, 1918 to Fred and Agnes Mattson. She grew up in the Redmond / Woodinville area where she met her husband of 67 years, Ralph G. Van Noy.
Shirley and Ralph enjoyed many years of card playing, fishing, golfing, gardening, and entertaining. You could stop by at any time of the day or night, and she would hand you a drink and feed you (whether you wanted it or not!). When the grandkids were sick and she was caring for them, she would give them scrambled egg sandwiches and chocolate milk (which immediately made them feel better).
Shirley loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was an avid bridge player for most of her adult life. Her love of gardening showed in her yard and many beautiful pots. She loved to shop and finding a bargain was one of her greatest joys.
She was a loving wife, an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend of those lives she touched. She will be remembered for her strong will, generous heart, and her love of hosting parties and people!
She is survived by her three children: Jim Van Noy (and wife Mary), Sandra Van Noy Michaels (and husband Mike), and Stacey Van Noy; 7 grandchildren: Mindy, Melissa, Mitch, Monica, Karra, Krista, and Kiley; and 11 great-
grandchildren: David, Juliette, Kinley, Kelsey, Walker, Winston, Noni, Caden, Savannah, Jack, and Macallan. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph (2000), and sister, Imo Dunn (1995).
The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful caregivers of Lake Hills Blvd Adult Family Home where she lived for the past 5 ½ years. Immense gratitude to Brenda Mouw for her long time love and support and the many manicures/pedicures she gave her over the years.
In Shirley’s memory (and her love of cats), please consider donating to Homeward Pet Adoption Center: 13132 NE 177th Place, Woodinville, WA 98072 or https://www.homewardpet.org/.
