Last week, Woodinville High School student Jamison Atwood was named Student of the Month at a luncheon at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery is organized by the Woodinville Chamber.

Northshore Schools Foundation Executive Director Carmin Dalziel and WHS Assistant Principal Richard Brown, Jr. introduced Jamison, who is a junior.

“When you walk into our building, you’ll notice him right away,” Brown said. “He has such amazing attributes, characteristics of leadership, but more importantly it’s his passion and empathy towards all students.”

Jamison maintains a 3.5 GPA and is the captain of the WHS boys basketball team.

“Being a captain is being a leader on the court, helping the coach on the floor and helping set a positive vibe on the team,” he said. “It’s important for me to show care, respect and leadership in my school so other students and athletes will look up to me and act the same way towards other students and make the school a better place. I appreciate the teachers and coaches who have taught me and supported me during my time at Woodinville.”

Jamison thanked his mom, who he says has been critical to his achievements and leadership.

“The reason I got this award is because of my mom,” he said. “Every morning before I leave the house she tells me to remember who you are. This saying from my mom sticks in my mind throughout the day, while I’m at school, on the basketball court and out in public. I think of who I am any time I have to make a decision.”
