Celebrate Woodinville Winterfest at four locations

Downtown Woodinville will transform into a winter wonderland on Saturday, Dec. 2. The annual Celebrate Woodinville Winterfest celebration will be hosted across four lolocations: Woodin Creek Village, DeYoung Park, the Schoolhouse District and Molbak’s Garden+Home.

“As a chamber, our mission is to bring awareness to businesses, so we really strive in all community events to put eyes on businesses in Woodinville,” said Kimberly Ellertson, executive director of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce.

Winterfest kicks off with an early morning 5K Walk & Run at Wilmot Gateway Park. Ellertson estimates anywhere from 200 to 400 participants will join this year, she said. The race starts at 9:30 a.m. and dogs are encouraged to participate as well.

She said local businesses will also provide swag bags, water bottles and other items throughout the race. A finisher celebration will take place afterward from 10 to 11 a.m. Celebrate Woodinville Winterfest is sponsored by the Woodinville Chamber, which aims to encourage a sense of community by bringing residents together for family-oriented events. Visitors from outside town are invited to stop by one of Woodinville’s many wineries, breweries, cideries, farms and local businesses.

Winterfest runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at all four locations. At DeYoung Park, there will be pictures with Santa, kids activities, a toy drive, wreath making, holiday treats and the Wellington Elementary and Leota Middle School choirs.

The evening with conclude with the traditional tree lighting at DeYoung Park at 5:30 p.m. Throughout the day, people can stop by the park for several interactive events such as wreath-making, ornament-making- making and photos with Santa. At Molbaks, there will be photos by the poinsettia tree, Danish kringles and coffee, and Woodinville Teen Arts activities.

Holiday carolers will sing between 1 and 3 p.m. Arcani and the Tree of Dreams will perform at noon and 3 p.m. At The Schoolhouse District, there will be firepits with s’mores and other treats, including the Woodinville Farmers Market from noon to 5 p.m. The YMCA Holiday Breakfast is from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is required. The Winter Wonderland runs from 2 to 4 p.m. The Candy Cane Hunt begins at 6 p.m.

At Woodin Creek Village, there will be live music, pop-up shops, carriage rides, and light displays. The chamber encourages families to print out or download a map of the Winterfest activities online at https:// www.celebratewoodinville. com/winterfest/. Ellertson said each site is within walking distance, so driving to each location is not necessary. Make sure to stop by each location for a stamp and a chance to win some Woodinville swag.
