Terry Jarvis

TERRY JARVIS, 83, of Woodinville, passed away on March 6, 2024, surrounded by his family, following complications of Parkinson’s.

Terry’s passion was always old cars. At nine, he was driving a 1924 Ford Model T at his grandmother’s home in Rainier Valley. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, he earned a business degree from the University of Washington. In 1960, with his brother Jon, he opened Vintage Auto Parts on Roosevelt Avenue in Seattle. In 1964, the store was moved to a new lo- cation, built by Terry, Jon, and their father, Joe, on Highway 9 just north of the burgeoning town of Woodinville. He expanded the business to be the country’s premier resource for antique and classic car parts and started a family with his wife Cherry, welcoming Kristin in 1968 and Jenni- fer in 1971. In 1985, Terry built Woodinville Self Storage next to Vintage Auto Parts, which his family still runs and manages today. Throughout his life, Terry was an active community member and a charter member of the Woodinville Rotary Club. Along with community and Rotary friends, he re-established the historical Town- ship of Grace, naming himself ‘Mayor-for-Life’ in 1993. In addition to being in the Washington State Air National Guard and being an entrepreneur, loyal friend, beekeeper, wine- maker, and devoted husband and father, Terry was known for his warm, sparkling smile, his fun-loving pranks, and limericks. He brought levity to the surrounding community through the Town of Grace’s newspaper, parades, and humorous signs posted along Highway 9 in Woodinville. Long before it was an accept- ed slogan in Grace, he lived by the belief that “Having Fun is Serious Business.” Terry was a loving husband to Cherry, an adoring father to Kristin and Jennifer, a grandfather to Andrew, Han- nah, Joshua, and Abegail, and a mentor to sons-in-law Jon Adams and David Seber. He was an instant friend and source of joy to all who were fortunate to know him. He will be sorely missed, but in true Terry fashion, he left us with these words to live by: Follow the fun!
